What constitutes Bad Content for a post to be marked that? I’ve had a couple which someone has marked Bad Content and I can’t understand why, as there’s no feedback about what is wrong with them?
I’m (understandably, surely?) thrilled when something great happens with one of my designs, so I write about it - its a huge part of my life, and so great when something fun or reassuring or exciting happens with Joolz.
I don’t write in prejudiced or racist terms, I don’t write hate mail or bully anyone online, so I’m just not sure what the problem is. What’s wrong with talking about my designs? Its pretty much all I ever do, (yes, I am a bit obsessed with designing jewellery) so I don’t tend to have much else to talk about!

I’m helping to organise an eco-fashion show which will be happening in August. My joolz of course will be included in part of the show. Am I allowed to talk about that, I wonder? Let’s see if this post gets loaded, or whether it disappears, never to be heard from again, or maybe it might get marked bad content by whomever it is that is doing that!!!
Whoever you are, please let me know what it is that is wrong with talking about what it is that I do all day every day?
Yogi Da Dhaba
This place serves up some of the best curries in Melbourne. Its reasonably priced, service is quick and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious. Its hard to survive as an Indian restaurant in this particular stretch up the top of Lygon Street in Brunswick, as there are quite a few good restaurants serving Indian, some being reasonably-priced and some are just ridiculously cheap.
But you get what you pay for, and I say, get it at Yogi’s! They have survived there for several years for a damn good reason. The range of options is broad, but not so many that you can’t choose, there are some great Chef’s specials, and their vegetable pakoras are flat-out the best in Australia. Yes, its a broad claim, but I do honestly know this to be true, I have tried them everywhere else that I’ve been (which is almost everywhere, I haven’t made it to the NT yet but almost - Mt Isa is pretty close!).
So get yourselves to Yogi Da Dhaba on Lygon St, East Brunswick (just north of Brunswick Road) and enjoy a feast of deliciousness. I’ll be the one already in the corner with a big grin on my face after polishing off a plate of lamb bhuna or chicken tikka murg pudina. YUM.
Does anyone know some good gluten-free restaurants in the northern suburbs?
3 Answers Published 8 months, 1 week ago in Where I Live.Hey guys,
Looking for some good GF restaurants in the northern subs. A friend has recently found out she’s gluten-intolerant and I have found myself that steering clear of it certainly makes a difference. Would love to find some new favourite restaurants that we could check out!
Thanks
So exciting to see my stuff up on the catwalk, I must admit. I want to do another one straight away! This is exactly what happened after the last fashion show I did earlier this year too. I think they must be addictive - its kind of like caffeine or something I suspect. Anyway I’m uploading a few of the photos. Noone else has to be excited, I do perfectly understand if its just me
Blue Attic
I popped in to Blue Attic yesterday to check out how this new local boutique is going. Its great! Chock-full of local creative types’ wares, including clothes, art, bags, hats etc, all made here in Melbourne by local artesans. And you can enjoy a cup of organic free trade coffee and munch on some yummy bikkies! Bliss. What a way to shop!
The owner makes the coolest dresses I’ve seen in a long time - kind of rocker-meets-miss-muffett, I guess that sounds a bit mad, but I fell in love with them. I even took a pic, coz I wanted to email them to a friend of mine who I know is gonna love them as much as I did! And there’s a guy who screen-prints cool kids tshirts with Dillon, Lennon, Che etc. And a girl who custom-makes bras! Sooo fab! Its such a fun little place. And of course there’s *ahem* some gorgeous jewellery in there
I love how much the top end of Lygon Street is coming along as a cool area! YAY! I have more places to review in this area, will report back soon
Well, last Friday night saw Joolz on the catwalk for the inaugural event for Midnight Fashion. There were some beautiful designs on the catwalk that night I must say! The Bond Lounge was packed to the rafters. It was a great night except that some little stinker decided to help themselves to a couple of Joolz necklaces - and if karma exists, they will be seen by me or someone who knows my stuff in the next little while and they will be BUSTED! I’m kinda hoping now that they are sober they might hand the jewellery back in to the Bond Lounge or something… but I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath. I have attached photos of the stolen items - if you Nooksters see someone wearing either of them, NAB ‘EM!
If you are looking for the best pizza in Northcote or Thornbury, then Pizza Farro on High St is the place to go. The patronage this place gets immediately lets you know that you have found a special place - its buzzing with people, and the staff are attentive, friendly, and knowledgable. And the decor is fantastic! Very cool.
Pizzas are available in both traditional and less-expected combinations, and all are served on a tummy-friendly spelt base. Mm-mm! My favourite is their pancetta pizza with gorgonzola. My sis loves the pumpkin and rocket one. YUM!
The news that Joolz is up against some industry heavyweights for Accessories Brand of the Year is starting to filter out. I’ve had a couple of calls from local magazines and celebrities - I’m doing some jewellery designs for a certain well-known ABC person next week! And a local magazine is going to do a story on the Awards nomination and my new range, which is all very good for raising the profile
Wow I seem to never do anything else except Joolz though. I am sure I remember going out and relaxing once upon a time… lol can’t complain, all the hard work is going to pay off one of these days very soon I hope (fingers are crossed tightly)
LOCAL DESIGNER JOOLZ HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE ANNUAL FHM ESSENTIAL AWARDS IN THE CATEGORY OF ACCESSORIES BRAND OF THE YEAR
4 Comments Published 11 months, 2 weeks ago in My life.![]()
My jewellery design company, Joolz, has been shortlisted in the Accessories Brand of the Year division of the FHM Essential Awards.
I’m absolutely thrilled to be in the finals. I’m in a category with some of my idols in the industry: Dolce & Gabbana, Oroton, Swatch, Guess, Adidas… WOW. I’m just so humbled by this recognition, its amazing. And I hope everyone votes for Joolz, of course!
I understand that Joolz is the only independent designer to have reached the finals in their category. Plus Joolz is all Australian-made, designed, and owned. I am not a subsidiary of another multi-national, I am not an importer of goods made overseas. I’m just your local designer!
The items that I entered: ‘Afrike’ is a necklace of Burmese ebony, big baroque pearls, and lush green peridots. ‘Cool Runnings’ is a hematite bracelet on elastic. And ‘Rough’n'Tumble’ is a necklace with the eco-friendly approach of recycled beads and the ease of a magnetic clasp.
Voting is currently open to the public online at www.fhmessential.com until 3 October 2007. So go and give Joolz 5 stars!
Joolz is currently stocked online at www.joolz.com.au and at the following beautiful boutiques:
Blue Attic, 323 Lygon Street East Brunswick VIC 3056 Ph 03 9387 8015
La Mez, 207 Smith Street Fitzroy VIC 3065 Ph 03 9486 9655
